What Is Pour Over Coffee

Pour over brewing involves slowly pouring hot water over ground coffee in a filter. Water passes through the coffee and drips into a cup or server. This method highlights delicate flavors and clarity.

Equipment Needed

Pour over dripper
Paper filter
Medium grind coffee
Gooseneck kettle
Scale and timer

Recommended Ratio

1:16 coffee to water.

Example
20 g coffee
320 g water

Brewing Steps

  1. Place the filter in the dripper and rinse it with hot water.

  2. Add coffee grounds.

  3. Pour a small amount of water to bloom the coffee for 30 seconds.

  4. Slowly pour the remaining water in steady circles.

  5. Allow the coffee to fully drain through the filter.
