What Is Espresso

Espresso is a concentrated coffee brewed by forcing hot water through finely ground coffee under pressure. It forms the base for drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos.

Grind Size

Fine grind.

Standard Ratio

1:2 brew ratio.

Example
18 g coffee
36 g espresso output

Brewing Steps

  1. Grind coffee finely and place in the portafilter.

  2. Distribute and tamp the coffee evenly.

  3. Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine.

  4. Start extraction and aim for 25 to 30 seconds.

  5. The result should be a balanced shot with crema on top.
